EMU Volleyball takes down Sweet Briar in three sets
Instead of a match on Homecoming this year, the Royals women's volleyball team kicked off the festivities with a Thursday night matchup, taking on first-year program Sweet Briar. EMU made quick work of the Vixens, picking up a 3-0 (25-11, 25-8, 25-11) win in a non-ODAC match.

The Las Vegas Aces are in position to make short work of the WNBA's expanded playoff schedule. A'ja Wilson's turnaround jumper with 0.3 seconds remaining lifted the Aces over the Phoenix Mercury for a thrilling 90-88 win on Wednesday night. It also gave Las Vegas a 3-0 lead in the first best-of-seven WNBA Finals in league history.

The Seattle Mariners are on the brink of a spot in the AL Championship series for the first time in 24 years. Cal Raleigh hit a two-run homer, Eugenio Suarez and J.P. Crawford had solo shots and Seattle beat the Detroit Tigers 8-4 on Tuesday night to take a 2-1 lead in the AL Division Series.

After three straight road matches, the Royals returned home on Tuesday to take on Randolph Macon in a midweek ODAC matchup. It was a tightly contested match with a lot of back-and-forth, but ultimately it was RMC who picked up the 3-1 (25-17, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22) win.

Mistake-prone Chiefs blame themselves for crushing loss at Jaguars
