HARRISONBURG VA: (Rocktown Now) – Harrisonburg State Senator Mark Obenshain is not a fan of state budget the Senate passed last week.

He said on WSVA Radio’s “Late Afternoons” that the Senate’s version of the budget is too rich for his blood. “I love the fact that our teachers are getting a 3% pay raise, but there are some things in there that I really don’t love, like a tripling of legislative salaries”.

Obenshain said he voted against that amendment, which will push legislative salaries from 18-thousand dollars to 50-thousand dollars annually.
He also noted that the budget has an 11 percent increase in the hunting tax, which will impact a number of folks here in the valley.
