RICHMOND, Va. (JMU Athletics) – James Madison running back Wayne Knight and right tackle Pat McMurtrie have been recognized as Touchdown Club of Richmond Players of the Year, as Knight was named Running Back of the Year and McMurtrie took home Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Both individuals were previously named First Team All-Sun Belt selections, as they lead one of the nation’s leading offenses into the College Football Playoff.

Knight, a Paul Hornung Award finalist, is third nationally in all-purpose yards per game (147.0), as he’s rushed for 1,263 yards and nine touchdowns while making 37 receptions for 379 yards. He’s also added 269 return yards on special teams. Named the Sun Belt Football Championship MVP, night has four 100-yard rushing performances, including his career-high 212 against Troy in the title game.

McMurtrie is a staple on JMU’s offensive line, starting all 13 games at right tackle. In his two seasons, he’s never allowed a single sack. JMU averages 37.3 points per game, which ranks 10th nationally. The Dukes are sixth in the FBS in rushing (245.8) and 22nd in total offense (448.3). JMU’s offense scored north of 50 points in four games this season.

JMU (12-1) earned the No. 12 seed in the upcoming College Football Playoff and will face No. 5 Oregon in Eugene in the first round on Friday, Dec. 20. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (4:30 p.m. PT) and will be broadcast on the JMU Radio Network.
