James Madison Baseball loses at Radford, 4-2

RADFORD, Va. (JMU Athletics) – Radford pushed three runs across in the fourth inning as James Madison baseball fell, 4-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Sherman Carter Memorial Stadium.

The Dukes dropped to 7-8 while the Highlanders improved to 8-6.

Junior Josiah Seguin led the Dukes at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a home run.

How It Happened
Fourth Inning
After the teams combined for three hits through the first three innings, JMU struck first as sophomore Reece Moody laid down a squeeze bunt with runners on the corners to bring home Seguin.

Radford responded with four hits in the home half of the inning, bringing in three runs to take a 3-1 lead.

Seventh Inning
A walk and a single put runners on the corners to allow Radford to knock another run in on a groundout.

Eighth Inning
The Dukes took a run back, as Seguin smashed a home run to left field to make the score 4-2. It was his fourth homer in five games, the first Duke to do so since Fenwick Trimble did it April 21-28, 2024.

How It Happened
• With Josiah Seguin’s single in the fourth inning, the junior has now reached base in 14 games and has hit safely in 13 games through the opening 15 games of the season.
• Brode Susce set a new season high in innings pitched with 2.2 innings of relief.
• For the first time this season, Reece Moody did not reach base safely. He also had his 10-game hitting streak snapped, the first hit streak of 10 or more games since 2024 for JMU.
