BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – Bridgewater College men’s basketball hit a rough patch falling 108-72 against Guilford at home Saturday afternoon.

The Bridgewater College Eagles (BCE) have dropped to 6-9 overall and 2-4 in conference play while the Guilford Quakers (GQ) have moved to 8-7 overall and 2-4 in ODAC action.

How It Happened

From the very beginning, the Guilford Quakers gave the Eagles tough times handling the ball out of the back court with a full-court press for a majority of the game. The Eagles did not have the answer to fight the aggressive defense and turned the ball over in costly situations, allowing the Quakers to capitalize.

Through the first 20 minutes, GQ took commanding control of pace and flow, giving the conference foe open looks and extra chances at the basket. The Quakers finished the half in strong fashion with a 60-32 advantage.

In the second half, BCE worked to climb out of the large hole they found themselves in from the first half with 40 second-half points, but GQ made it difficult to find any traction in any part of the game. Later, the Quakers extended the large lead to 38 points, and that gave the Quakers all the confidence needed to push further into comfortable territory.

The Quakers snuffed out any chance at the Eagles closing the deficit and came away with the win, 108-72.

Game Notes
• Carter Palmer snuck in a career-high 22 points on the day.
• The turnovers hurt the Eagles in this matchup, totaling 27 turnovers.
• The three-ball was not sinking against the Quakers struggling with a 3-20 percentage.

Up Next
The Eagles are back in action against Washington & Lee on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at home. Tip-off begins at 7 p.m.
