ROCKINGHAM COUNTY: (WSVA) Interstate 81 has fully reopened after yesterday’s debacle involving a chemical fire just north of Harrisonburg city limits.
As you remember, both directions of the “I” were shut down for hours after reports came in of a tractor-trailer fire at Exit 251 northbound.
Rockingham County Fire Chief Jeremy Holloway explained that the fire involved a truck carrying dozens of volatile acetylene containers, and a blown tire set off a dangerous chain reaction.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported but traffic was snarled all day in the Harrisonburg area.
According to V-DOT, all lanes of the interstate finally reopened just after 8-30 last night.
