AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va – Augusta County fire officials are investigating what caused a blaze that destroyed a home early Thursday morning.

Fire and Rescue Chief of Training Chris Shaver says the fire broke out at around 3:15 at a home on Spottswood Road and when crews arrived they found flames showing from the front of the house.

Shaver said it took crews several hours before bringing the fire under control but not before the house was deemed a total loss.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported and the American Red Cross was called in to assist the displaced family.
