The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources picked up nearly 22-thousand 3-inch muskie fingerlings from the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.

These fish will be used to meet annual stocking allocations across Virginia.

Around three thousand of the young muskies were taken to the newly renovated Front Royal Hatchery where they can grow to advanced fingerling size – around 10 inches long.

The larger fish will be released into waterways this fall, which D-W-R says should help enhance muskie fishing opportunities across the commonwealth in the years to come.
